Hi Paulette,

I stumbled over to your site today from Murder at Avadon Hill. I really enjoyed this story! I love stories that twist and turn a little and I would have never guessed the ending of this story when I was listening to the beginning. You should consider lengthening either of these first two stories, your first one in particular feels like a chapter from a larger novel. This second story could go either way for me. I got the same pleasure out of reading it that I do the "years best Sci-Fi." Production values on both were really good as well. Thanks for sharing your stories. I appreciate them even if publishers so far have not.

Best of luck going forward,
Dave M. (Alexgone)

As a short story, I could see many glimmers of a bigger world, but I was slightly disappointed with how quickly Celeste's was ready to prostitute herself out for a warm bed and a meal rather than help someone in need. Perhaps I missed something. As for the execution of the story, I was highly impressed. I think this story would have worked out better as part of a longer piece for now my appetite is whetted. Keep up the great work. Moving on to the next story. :)

Paulette,

Excellent story. Even though I read for you, I didn't read the whole story. I like being able to enjoy the audio version first before reading the text. Excellent work.

Well, you'll both be happy to know that I do have an outline for a book based on Celeste's story. It will take her from childhood to a point right around the time of this story. However, since that time period covers quite a few things only alluded to here (King Alphonse's rise to power, the corruption of the Fire Guilds, the Bloody Solstice , the Great Purge, just to name a few) I have quite a bit of world building to do before I'm ready to sit down and write that one.

Trust me, you guys will be among the first to know it when I do!

There's a rich universe here, Paulette. I hope it doesn't languish.

Thanks for letting me participate in your debut story. It was a lot of fun watching my kids' faces as I recorded the groaning. :)

Excellent job, Paulette! Your hard work has definitely paid off, and you should be very proud! Thank you again for letting me be a part of the debut episode since I fell in LOVE with the story and Celeste. I hope this isn't all we'll hear of her past and future?

Keep up the great work, can't wait to hear next month's story!
